Report and Recommendations of the Madison Metropolitan War Memorial Association, July 1, 1949. Established by the Madison, Wisconsin, City Council in 1947, the Association was charged with studying "the type, use, location, and methods of financing a war memorial to serve the citizens of greater Madison and appropriately commemorate the soldier dead of all the wars...." This is an interim report proposing gradual construction of a facility on Lake Mendota which would include a main auditorium, a general purpose hall, a general reception room, banquet and food services, a youth center, and a boat harbor. |
