The story of Primrose, 1831-1895. This local history focuses on the early years of the Town of Primrose, Dane County, Wisconsin. It contains stories and reminiscences of European-American pioneers and their interactions with Native people, the challenges of creating a settlement, development of town government, and descriptions of day-to-day events. Contains a roster of Civil War soldiers from Primrose. Numerous 19th-century Scandinavian immigrants settled in the Town of Primrose. Includes information about the establishment of the Primrose Lutheran Conference Congregation which resulted from a disagreement on the issue of slavery. Primrose is also the birthplace of Robert M. La Follette. The publication includes a photograph of La Follette and four pages of text on him. |
