Stoughton Junior Fair : 50th anniversary, July 9th-13th, 1975. This Premium Book commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Stoughton, Wis. Junior Fair. An historical summary details the origin of the event, which was conceived by the Otis Sampson Post of the American Legion as an activity to promote the community of Stoughton as well as to honor young boys and girls for their skills in agriculture and home economics, and covers major developments through the 1953 fair. There is a list of presidents, 1925-1975; a list with pictures of the 1975 officers and directors; a list of committee members; and a salute to the carnival midway operation. There are pictures of the early fairs, six unidentified boards of directors, and five bovine entries in the 1953 fair. The booklet contains judging regulations, rules for exhibition, animal health requirements, categories of competition, available awards, and the schedule of events. There was a senior citizens' category for arts and crafts and a cake decorating contest open to any Dane County resident over 17 years of age. Extensive advertisements by businesses in Stoughton and other communities in southern and eastern Dane County are indexed. The book is dedicated to Alvin Gjertson and includes a President's Message by Oyvind Wikum.
