The Historic Perry Norwegian Settlement. This book documents the people who lived in the 60 square mile area of the historic Perry Norwegian Settlement, which coincides with the area served by Perry Lutheran Church, Town of Perry, Dane County, Wis. Organized around the ten historic country school districts, the book illusrates the community building effect of the rural school system. The book contains histories of the schools and maps showing locations of farms and homes with information about the people who lived there. It includes many pictures. Introductory material includes information on Norwegian cultural practices that elucidate settlement patterns and naming traditions, and background on the geography and archeological history of the area. There are historical accounts of the village of Daleyville and of the area's churches and a listing of local bands. |
