35th Anniversary, Luther Memorial Church, Madison, Wisconsin, June 1942. Essays relate the history of Luther Memorial Church, which was a product of mission work of the English Lutheran Church, especially directed toward University of Wisconsin students. There are reprints of articles from the Wisconsin State Journal at the time of dedication of the Luther Memorial Chapel in 1915 and Luther Memorial Church in 1923. There are lists of the 1942 church staff, councilmen, standing committees, and anniversary celebration committee; the charter members; the 1923 building committee and councilmen; 1937-38 councilmen; and church members who served in World Wars I and II. There are letters of greetings from national church officials and former pastors. There are also essays on the Lutheran Student Foundation, the church music, Sunday School, Women's Guild, Women's Missionary Society, Dorcas Society, Ruth Guild, Evening Mission Guild, Sewing Circle, men's groups, ushers, Couples Club, Luther League, and Boy Scout Troop 10. The schedule of the anniversary celebration on June 6 and 7, 1942, is listed. Photographs are of the pastors, some key early members, the 1921-23 building committee heads, and others, as well as of the successive church buildings. |
