Summary |
Madison Centennial : A Century of Progress, 1856-1956. This is a mimeograph guide for a centennial history tour of Madison's historic houses and buildings held on July 1, 1956. The attached map reveals that the tour covered a range of buildings between the Harvey Hospital on South Brearly Street on the east and the Old Spring Tavern at 3706 Nakoma Road on the west. There is a three-paragraph description of Madison, attributed to AAA 1956; and short descriptions of the 21 sites on the tour, which included residences, inns, the covered wagon trail marker, government buildings, Forest Hill Cemetery, and churches. |
