The Shapiro's Bush, 1940-60: Mound Street and the "Bush." This nine-page, unbound, typed manuscript is a draft of a memoir, written by Stuart Shapiro, a man who grew up in the Greenbush neighborhood of Madison, Wisconsin, in the middle of the 20th century. He describes the multi-ethnic characters of the neighborhood as well as the reaction to the gentrification of the neighborhood and eventual displacement of its residents. |
