Documentation for the Samuel Messerschmidt house and barn compiled by Stacey C. Pilgrim for Mead & Hunt, Inc., for the Historic American Building Survey (HABS). The farmstead was located along Highway 51 in the Town of Burke, Dane County, Wisconsin and had to be relocated due to airport expansion. Eligible for the National Register of Historic Places, the house and barn displayed distinctive construction techniques using hand-hewn solid oak frames covered by a 10-inch-thick granite veneer. |
