Scope & Content The Utica Materials contain an account book for the Town of Christiana, Dane County, Wisconsin, dated 1864 -1865, with entries for costs such as election notices, writing and posting notices for meetings of the Board of Equalization, road tax, clerk of court, and special town meetings. Also included is an undated (ca. 1850-1900) inaugural newsletter from the Utica Academy Press, bearing the title "The Pen is Mightier Than the Sword, Published at No. 114, Clinton St., Utica, Wis." The newsletter contains Academy news, and essays from students on educational topics. A short essay published by the Koshkonong Prairie Historical Society in 1952 titled "History of Utica" by Muriel Fosdal Wersland provides a brief historical overview of the Town of Christiana and the Utica settlement within. This collection was donated by the Milton Historical Society, but it is unclear who initially accumulated the materials.
