Scope & Content The Presbyterian Church of Verona Session Book consists of meeting minutes (1851-1905), lists of pastors and elders that served the church, and registers of baptisms (1846-1905), weddings (1884-1886), and members (1858-1905). This volume includes copies of the original session records transcribed by Robert Christison in 1887. This rural Scotch Presbyterian church served residents of the Town of Verona and the Town of Springdale, Dane County, Wisconsin.
Admin/Biographical History The following are notes from the original accession record, written by Delma Donald Woodburn. The initials DDW used within the entry are hers.

"This 'Minutes of Session', Presbyterian Church, Verona, was turned over to me by Mrs. Charles Himsel of Mt. Horeb. It was rescued from the old church by Mrs. Himsel and her mother, Mrs. J.R. Henderson.
The following eight persons were the last remaining members of the Church when it was disbanded:
J.R. Henderson and Maggie (was a Nimmo)
Children of J.R. & Maggie: Andrew Henderson
Margaret Henderson (Mrs. Andrew Patton)
Jo Henderson
Mary Henderson (Mrs. Himsel)

This Scotch Presbyterian Church was located in the Town of Verona, Springdale, Dane County, Wis. T 6N R 8E Southwest 1/4 of Southwest 1/4 Sec. 17. [Note: the 1890 and 1922 plat maps name this property the 'Scotch Church', and state its location as being in the NW part of Sec. 20 in NW 1/4 of NW 1/4.]

First services in a schoolhouse on Samuel Taylor's farm in 1848 (earliest service mentioned in town of Verona. DDW)
Church built in 1861; cost $1,100.
First pastor: the Rev. James Donald (my Great-Grandfather. DDW)
Second pastor: the Rev. Robert Westcott.
October 26, 1858: first entry signed by the Rev. Donald.
October 15, 1865: last entry signed by the Rev. Donald. "
