Admin/Biographical History The Mendota Beach Homes Company was incorporated on April 25, 1944, by C.A. Bishop, John W. Tessman, W.R. Winch, Stanley A. Witzel, and E.C. Severson. Though named "Company," the organization was really a community association for property owners in the Mendota Beach Heights neighborhood of Madison, Wisconsin, organized particularly to promote continuation of zoning which restricted housing to single family dwellings.

During the period 1969-1970 the Company joined with others to form the Madison Kettle Moraine Park Committee. This organization sought to prevent development and instead encourage the City of Madison to purchase for a park an area north of Old Middleton Road. The area consisted of several acres of wooded hills and a small lake which resulted from glacier action. The effort was largely successful and the park was established in 1971.
