Scope & Content The Dryden Family Papers consist of a photocopy of a typed letter dated September 19, 1911, written by John Dryden of Kearney, Neb., recounting a visit to Dane County, Wis. earlier in the month. The letter contains personal observations of family and friends on the changing physical characteristics of Middleton, Wis., Madison, Wis., and the Blue Mounds, Wis. area, and a summary of the testimony given in the trial records covering the murder of a family member named Seeb Dryden in 1866. There are also typed copies of Dryden family deeds to the trustees of the First Presbyterian Church in Blue Mounds, Wis., and the trustees of an unnamed Methodist Episcopal Church in Dane County, Wis., both from 1866.
