Scope & Content The "History of the M.E. Church started here years ago, services held in Lyle School House about 1853, says resident" Manuscript describes the early history of Methodist Episcopal church services in the area near Belleville and Montrose, Wisconsin. These reminiscences, attributed to Eliza Crocker-Elder, were "written as she remembers it, with some data from others." The 5 typed pages also contain some transcriptions of meeting minutes for the church, and a passage from a letter from Annie Oliver Lohff providing memories of former ministers and members of the church. A copy of this manuscript ran in the "Belleville Recorder" newspaper on October 11, 1934.
