Scope & Content The Helene Metzenberg Materials consist of brochures, newspaper articles, and newsletters, preserved by Metzenberg, all concerning the work and legacy of architect Frank Lloyd Wright. The collection emphasizes Wright's connections to Wisconsin, and includes several items documenting the Elvehjem Museum of Art's 1988 exhibition "Frank Lloyd Wright and Madison: Eight Decades of Artistic and Social Interaction." A large part of the collection concerns the opera "Shining Brow," which was composed by Daron Aric Hagen for the Madison Opera, detailing the murder of Wright's mistress at Taliesin, their home near Spring Green, Wisconsin. The collection contains several news articles on the opera, as well as an original program for the world premiere; and two ticket stubs for the April 21, 1993 performance at the Madison Civic Center.
