Scope & Content The Forest A. Johnson Collected Materials contain clippings, programs, brochures, correspondence, publications, posters, and ephemera concerning various aspects of his life and of local history in Dane County, Wis. Major topics covered include the closing of the Ringling Brothers Circus big top show in 1956; the process of documenting the history of Mt. Horeb, Wis. through oral history interviews; exhibits and historic sites operated by the State Historical Society of Wisconsin; and the activities that occurred in Wisconsin to honor the U.S. Bicentennial. The Bicentennial materials include many posters, brochures, and newsletters produced by the Wisconsin Council for Local History. Additionally, there is a letter to Alberta Johnson from Blanche Trilling, the noted University of Wisconsin director of the women's physical education department from 1912 to 1946.
