Scope & Content The Claire Mulvey Collected Materials contain clippings from Madison, Wisconsin area magazines and newspapers, largely written by Frank Custer about local history topics; a registration packet for "A Civil War Weekend in De Forest, July 1-4, 1994, De Forest, Wisconsin"; a guide to the exhibit "Through the Lens of Andrew Dahl," sponsored by the De Forest Area Historical Society; and several maps depicting the Old Military Road and lead mining region of Wisconsin. Topics covered in the clippings include the photography of Andrew Dahl; the history of De Forest, Wisconsin; the Old Tonyawatha Spring Hotel in Monona Wisconsin; Madison, Wisconsin pharmacist Albert Hollister and his invention called "Rocky Mountain Tea"; and historic buildings in the Madison downtown area and on the University of Wisconsin campus..
Admin/Biographical History Claire Mulvey was a past president and long-time member of the Dane County Historical Society Board of Directors. She was also one of the founding members of the De Forest Area Historical Society and served on its board. In 1992, Claire Mulvey was awarded the State Historical Society of Wisconsin's Award of Merit for her numerous contributions to the field of local history.
