Scattered papers, 1945-1966, of Darwin E. Bruns of DeForest, Wisconsin, chairman of the Dane County Board of Supervisors in the early 1960s. Included are newsclippings on County Board events; an undated (circa 1950?) report recommending construction of a shared city-county building in Madison on Monona Avenue; two photographs--one of Board members at their desks, June 6, 1957, and one showing four people at a table with World War II USO literature; a program from a 1966 Board recognition night; a prayer and cards containing typed notes for three speeches by Bruns; and 1945 accounts for purchases by Bruns from a lumber company and hardware store.
The speeches concern the history of the Dane County Board of Supervisors, on the occasion of burning the courthouse mortgage; the dedication of a historical marker by the Dane County Historical Society at the Hauge Church in western Dane County; and the Dane County Fair where Bruns promoted support for constructing a large Coliseum building on the grounds.
